Dolakha Coins

After the death of King Yakshya Malla a small administrative unit of Dolakha under him also became an independent kingdom. It is located about fifty kilometers east of Kathmandu Valley. King Indra Singh Dev of Dolakha issued the silver coin for the first time in history. The coin was issued in Nepal Era 666 (1545A.D.) this was the first silver coin of Nepal in a standard weight of one tole (11.6 grams). The coin has the legend “Dolakhadhipati Sri Jayendra Singh Devasya” on the obverse and “Patta Mahadeya Sri Vijaya Laxmi Mahadevaya” on the reverse.
